Sustainable Spa Covers: The Science of Airframe

Toxic VOCsEPS foamHeat Energy Transfer

TOXIC FOAM SPA COVERS AND VOCS

Each year, 1,900,000 spa covers made from Styrofoam, often labeled as EPS, XPS, and NGX foam, are sold in the US, despite their harmful emissions of VOCs. These discarded, water-saturated spa covers contribute to the congestion of America's landfills and threaten its aquifers for the next 2000 years. Dubbed a 'Silent Energy Thief' due to water's conductive properties, the average Styrofoam cover is equivalent to 3,520 Styrofoam cups, resulting in a staggering 6.69 billion cups being thrown away annually. Transitioning to more sustainable solutions can significantly enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Solution to Styrofoam pollution: Airframe spa covers.

After over 40 years of water-logged, toxic inefficiency, we present a sustainable solution to the wasteful use of Styrofoam for a heated, sanitized spa. Our energy-efficient Airframe spa covers start at $995 and can significantly reduce energy costs during use. Unlike traditional foam covers, lightweight Airframe covers do not become water-heavy. With a focus on safety free from petroleum-based VOCs and lower energy costs, these are high priorities for most spa owners. 21st-century families and the planet deserve a sustainable, energy-efficient, non-polluting alternative.

The Science of our Engineering Design

U.S. Patent # 9340989

Our spa covers are designed with sustainability in mind, offering energy efficiency and the ability to be repaired, making them a responsible choice for our planet.

The patented Airframe design features layers of gas permeable air chambers that minimize conductive heat transfer. These air layers are separated into distinct chambers, effectively inhibiting convection and enhancing insulation while reducing thermal bridging. By layering air chambers horizontally, expanding gases can seamlessly transition to adjacent chambers, which prevents condensation and the energy-wasting water weight buildup commonly associated with Styrofoam and vinyl chloride covers (2016 Chemical Safety Act).

This innovative approach ensures that Airframe covers maintain their energy efficiency for a decade or more! Withstanding weather, UV exposure, and water sanitizing efforts, Airframe covers serve as the first line of defense against environmental elements. When necessary, our sustainable Airframe covers can be reconditioned to like-new condition at a fraction of the cost of new ones!

At Coverplay, we envision a future with fewer petroleum-based chemicals heading to our landfills and a focus on sustainable solutions in energy-efficient spa covers. We offer Airframe to help achieve these goals while enhancing aesthetic appeal.

Have you consulted your spa manufacturer about eliminating the unhealthy toxic stigma associated with Styrofoam and vinyl chloride spa covers in their models?
